Artist's Note.

<구겨진 종이 위의 드로잉>

무라카미 하루키의 상실의 시대에서 영감을 받아 현대의 감정 부재와 소외에 대한 철학적인 사색을 담고 있다. 구겨진 종이는 잊혀지고 버려진 상태를 자연스럽게 반영하는 미적 표현이다. 드로잉은 마치 아이가 그린 듯한 순수함을 간직하고 있으며, 이것은 무라카미 하루키의 철학에서 감정의 소외와 불안, 혼란 속에서도 간직한 아름다움을 찾아낼 수 있는 희망을 상징한다. 감정을 놓치지 않고 드로잉을 통해 표현되면서, 현대의 개인화와 물리적 소통의 상실된 감정 교류에 대한 미학적 질문을 던져본다.

작품으로 표현된 종이를 다시 평탄하게 펴내는 행위를 통해 미의 아름다움이 소외와 부재된 감정에도 불구하고 어떻게 찾아낼 수 있는지를 상징적으로 제시하고자 한다. 종이의 구겨진 흔적과 다시펴진 아름다움은 동시대의 감정 부재와 상실에 대한 무라카미 하루키의 철학과 공명하며, 우리에게 감정의 중요성을 다시금 생각하게 한다. 아이가 그린 듯한 드로잉 구성을 통해 간단한 형상과 선으로 표현되어 있다. 이는 구겨진 종이와 드로잉의 물성에 감성을 담아내며, 감정 부재 속에도 예술이나 창의성을 통해 새로운 표현을 찾고자 하는 욕구를 나타낸다.

하얀 종이 위의 눈에 띄는 색을 지닌 종이테이프를 볼 수 있는데, 종이테이프는 일시적으로 물체를 고정할 때 사용되곤 한다. 하지만 강력한 고정이 아니기 때문에 언제든지 떨어 질 수 있으며, 이는 불안정성과 불안감을 상징한다. 각 색상마다 드로잉의 전체적인 의미를 상징하게 되는데, 빨강은 열정과 꿈, 핑크색은 사랑, 노랑색은 희망과 긍정, 초록은 안정, 파랑은 슬픔과 우울함에 대한 내용으로 작품에 대한 전체적인 의미를 간접적으로 전달한다. 이러한 상징성들은 작품의 컨셉과 의도, 관람자가 작가간의 상호작용에 따라 다양하게 해석될 수 있다.

현대의 소통은 상용의 편리화 그리고 개인화가 되어가면서 종종 물리적인 소통의 부재로 이어진다. 쪽지나 종이에 대한 감정적인 체온 전달이 구겨진 종이와 드로잉을 통해 감정을 물리적인 형태로 드러내는 동시에, 소통의 부재로 느껴지는 상실과 감정의 중요성에 대한 철학적인 물음을 제기한다. 이는 현대의 빠른 소통과 표면적인 연결성 속에서 감정의 진솔한 소통이 얼마나 소중한지를 새롭게 생각하게 한다.

작품은 무라카미 하루키의 ‘상실의 시대’에서 나타나는 소외와 상실에 대한 철학을 현대의 감정의 부재와 연결시키며, 예술을 통해 이러한 상태에 대한 진지한 고찰을 이끌어 낸다. 구겨진 종이와 그 위에 그려진 드로잉은 우리에게 감정의 미학과 소통의 필요성을 다시금 상기시키는 작업으로, 현대 사회에서의 감정의 소중함에 대한 깊은 생각을 유발한다.

<행복한 지옥>

행복한 지옥이라는 건 존재할 수 없지만 나는 현재 그곳에서 살아가고 있다. 반쯤 감겨있는 초점 없는 눈은 이상과 현실의 중간 어딘가에 멈추어있는 내 시선을 의미한다.

한편으로 눈꺼풀이 동일시 된 것은 이상과 현실의 수평을 맞추는 나의 가장 이상적이고 추구하는 것임을 상징한다.

각 객체는 내가 될 수도 다른 사람일 수도 있는 추상아닌 추상 그리고 구상아닌 구상으로 하나의 선으로 무의미하게 이루어진 형체 속에 나의 에너지로 하나씩 밝혀내어 형상이 무엇인지를 보여준다.

그 선은 하나의 에너지이자 내가 기록해낸 것에 대한 상징이고 그것들이 모여 결과적으로는 내가 추구하던 것에 가까워 짐을 의미한다.

The drawing, reminiscent of a child's simplicity, encapsulates a pursuit of beauty preserved amid emotional alienation, anxiety, and confusion, echoing Murakami's philosophy.

The act of smoothing out the paper, depicted in the piece, symbolically suggests how aesthetic beauty can be found despite emotional absence and loss. The crinkled paper's traces and the unfolded beauty resonate with Haruki Murakami's philosophy on alienation and loss in contemporary times, prompting us to reconsider the significance of emotions. The drawing, with its childlike simplicity, conveys emotions through basic shapes and lines, expressing the desire to find new forms of expression through art and creativity, even within emotional absence.

The conspicuous colored paper tape on the white paper holds significance. While paper tape is typically used temporarily to fix objects, its lack of strong adhesion symbolizes instability and anxiety. Each color represents a broader meaning within the drawing: red symbolizes passion and dreams, pink represents love, yellow signifies hope and positivity, green denotes stability, and blue conveys sadness and melancholy. These symbolic elements indirectly convey the overall meaning of the artwork, subject to various interpretations based on the concept, intention, and the viewer's interaction with the artist.

In a contemporary context, communication often evolves into convenient commercialization and personalization, leading to a lack of physical interaction. The emotional warmth conveyed through notes or paper is visually expressed through crumpled paper and drawing, prompting a philosophical inquiry into the absence of communication and the importance of emotions. This artwork serves as a serious contemplation of Haruki Murakami's philosophy of loss and alienation in the modern age, using art to provoke profound reflections on the value of emotions in contemporary society.

<A happy hell >

The artwork using the checkerboard aims to criticize the binary thinking prevalent in contemporary society and, simultaneously, encapsulate philosophical reflections on the individual's diversity and pursuit of happiness.

This creation questions the binary thinking frequently encountered in modern society, simplifying everything into either good or bad, right or wrong, resulting in the sacrifice of diversity and individuality. This may find resonance with Hegel's philosophical concept of 'Master and Slave,' where individuals discover and complete themselves through interaction. In this artwork, the stickers peeling off the checkerboard can be interpreted as each person's journey to find their unique color and individuality, echoing Hegel's ideas on the interaction between the master and the slave.

Moreover, the artist, by utilizing various colors and stickers to emphasize diversity, seeks to represent the complexity inherent in reality, where multiple concepts coexist. This aspect can be related to Nietzsche's concept of 'Individualization,' advocating for each entity to possess its unique value and encouraging a departure from simplistic and one-dimensional thinking towards embracing diversity.

In summary, the "Checkerboard" artwork, using philosophical concepts, criticizes the simplistic thinking prevalent in contemporary society and underscores the importance of diversity and individuality in the interaction between individuals and society.
