Artist's Note.

Fantasy Land

나는 작고 연약한 존재, 언더독 또는 멸종위기종에 대해 관심이 많다.

한없이 여리고 약한 그들을 내가 채색하고 묘사하고 표현함으로 인해서 그들의 존재 자체를 다시 재현한다.

어느 순간 그들에게 나의 모습이 투영되고 그들은 내 작품 속 주인공임과 동시에 내 감정이입의 대상이 된다.

내가 생각하는 나만의 유토피아는 모두가 평등한 존재로서 서로 보듬어 주고 어떤 누구도 상처받지 않고 버림받지 않는 고통 없는 곳이다.

누구든 병들거나 죽지 않으며 오해와 갈등이 없고 삶에 대한 긍정과 사랑과 행복이 가득한 지상 낙원이다.

현실과 상상의 경계 속 나만의 시선과 상징적 요소의 내러티브, 언어적 색채를 통해 상처와 고통으로 쉽게 마음을 열지 못하는 그들에게

내 그림이 따뜻한 마음의 안식처가 되길 바라고 현실 속에선 존재 할 수 없지만 의식 속에서 끊임없이 존재하는, 그들을 위한 우리 모두를 위한 치유의 판타지 랜드가 되길 기대한다.

Hide and seek

귀엽고 사랑스러운 흰머리 오목눈이는 보호종이며 겨울 철새지만, 나의 판타지 랜드에서는 열대 식물들과 공존하며 식물의 잎 사이사이에서 숨바꼭질 놀이를 하고 있다.

흰머리 오목눈이와 더불어 작품에 반복적으로 등장하는 식물은 ‘몬스테라’ 인데, 몬스테라는 아래쪽 잎에 햇빛을 가리지 않기 위해 스스로 찢어진 잎을 만든다고 한다.

이런 몬스테라의 배려심과 사려 깊음을 본받고 싶은 마음을 담아 치유와 안식의 공간이 될 유토피아를 배경으로 표현하였다. 작고 소중한 존재들의 마음의 안식처가 될 리얼 판타지를 꿈꾼다.

I am deeply interested in small and fragile beings, underdogs, or endangered species.

By painting, depicting, and expressing these endlessly delicate and vulnerable creatures, I recreate their very existence.

At some point, my own image is projected onto them, making them both the protagonists of my work and the objects of my empathy.

The utopia I imagine is a place where everyone exists as equals, embracing one another, where no one is hurt or abandoned—a world without suffering.

A place where no one falls ill or dies, where misunderstandings and conflicts do not exist, and where positivity, love, and happiness fill every corner of life—a terrestrial paradise.

Through my unique perspective at the border of reality and imagination, my use of symbolic elements and narrative,

and the chromatic language I employ, I hope my paintings offer a warm sanctuary to those who find it difficult to open their hearts due to wounds and pain.

I envision a healing fantasy land that may not exist in reality but constantly lives in consciousness—a place for them, for all of us.

Hide and Seek

The adorable and lovable long-tailed tit is a protected species and a winter migratory bird,

yet in my fantasy land, it coexists with tropical plants and plays hide-and-seek among the leaves.

Alongside the long-tailed tit, the plant that appears repeatedly in my work is the monstera.

Monstera is said to split its lower leaves to avoid blocking sunlight. Inspired by the thoughtfulness

and consideration of the monstera, I have depicted a utopian space that serves as a place of healing and rest—a sanctuary for the hearts of small and precious beings.

I dream of a real fantasy that becomes a refuge for these tiny, valuable lives.
