노현우 작가노트
Artist's Note.
기억의 틈, 감정의 공간
한 장면의 기억이 이미지로 저장되고 빠르게 잊혀 가고 있는 오늘을 살아가며, 기억해야 할 삶의 장면들이 지니는 감동의 무게가 줄어들고 있다. 그렇기에 순간을 더욱 명확하게 기억하고 기록하고자 한다.
객관적인 시각적 요소와 주관적인 느낌 및 기억을 융합하려는 시도는 장소의 물리적인 모습뿐 만 아니라 그곳과 관련된 감정, 기억 및 경험을 끊임없이 떠올리며 붓 끝을 통해 쌓여간다. 한 장소의 기억을 담아내기 위해 빈 캔버스에 켜켜이 쌓인 붓질로 공간의 경험과 기억이 자리 잡는다.
사람의 손이 잘 닿지 않은 자연을 마주하며 느꼈던 고요함 속의 편안함과 고독함, 약간의 수분을 머금은 바람, 흩날리는 초목과 끝을 알 수 없이 흘러가는 구름... 그곳과 마주한 순간을 기록하기 위해 몇 번이고 그날의 기억을 되새긴다. 작업이 계속될수록 그날의 기억은 또렷이 형상을 찾아가며 일정 부분은 왜곡되어 간다. 잔잔하지만 묵직하고 사실적인 표현으로 감정의 공유를 유발하고 무위적 풍경을 통해 감정의 흐름을 기록한다.
타이틀에 장소의 지표, 온도, 날짜, 시간과 같은 구체적인 세부 사항을 남겨 작품을 특정 순간에 고정하는 것은 작품의 방향성임과 동시에 공간에 대한 공감대를 끌어올리기 위한 일종의 초대장이다.
이렇게 만들어진 경험과 스쳐 지나간 삶의 한 공간 속으로 관람자를 초대하고자 한다. 그곳에서 각자 다른 시선으로 바라보며 다른 느낌을 받겠지만, 이 기억 속 한 장면을 통해 각자의 편안함을 찾기를 바란다.
Fragments of Memory, Spaces of Emotion
As living today, being saved memory of a scene by image, rapidly forgetting, the weight of touched emotions which must remember the scene of life had been shrunk. Therefore, I would like to remember and record the moment more clearly.
The attempt that combing objective visual factors and personal feeling with memory is accumulated by tip of the brush not only physical moments but also related to specific place emotions, memories, and experiences. To express the memory of the place, memory and experience have been settled down by brushing on blank canvas.
Feeling silence and alone with facing true nature without human’s civilization. Wind with a slight moisture, fluttering plants and an endless stream of flowing clouds. I recall the memories of that day several times to record the moment I faced it. As continuing the painting, memory of the date clearly finds it shape, and some parts are distorted.
It leads sharing of emotions by realistic expression, which is calm and sincere, records the flow of emotion through solemn landscape.
Fixing the task at a specific moment by leaving specific details such as the location's indicator, temperature, date, and time on the title is a kind of invitation to raise sympathy for space at the same time as the direction of the work.
I would like to invite you into the space of the experience and life has passed through.
Each person will experience different expression by different each perspective, but I sincerely hope you find your own comfort through this memory of the scene.
