Artist's Note.

자연과 풍경을 소재로 작업하고 있습니다.

그릴 것도 많고 느낄 것도 많은 대상이며, 항상 변화하고 새롭습니다.

작품을 만들면서 가장 크게 염두에 두고 있는 것은 자연(장소)을 처음 마주하고 그리고 싶은 충동이 일어났을 때 그 느낌과 감정을 끝까지 유지하며 이어 나가는 것입니다.

자연이 주는 시각적 다양함과 자연스러움, 숲 안에서 보았을 때 와 숲 밖에서 보 모습의 차이, 그때의 상황에 따라 다양하게 빛나는 나무들의 조화를 보며 정서적 감동을

느끼게 되고 캔버스에 재현하고자 하는 충동이 일게 되는 것입니다. 카메라를 이용하여 현장 스케치를 하지만 사진 자료는 그 순간(감정을 느낀)을 떠올리는 역할이 큽니다.

저의 작품은 자연을 그대로 사진처럼 그대로 옮기는 것보다는 자연을 보고 느낀 개인적인 내면의 감정 세계와 심리적으로 본 것을 그리는 것입니다.

작품을 크게 나눠 보면 숲 인상과 자연 인상, 아카시아로 나눌 수 있겠습니다.

숲 인상은 자연(숲)을 마주하고 바라보았을 때를 그린 것이고 자연인상 은 자연 안으로 들어가서의 느낌을 그린 것이라 할 수 있습니다.

아카시아 시리즈는 아카시아 잎의 평면적이고 패턴 적인 인상을 표현한 작품입니다. 기존의 자연인상 보다 더 숲(자연) 안으로 들어가 클로우즈업 된 이미지라 생각한다.

자연인상을 그릴 때 잎을 표현한 물감 터치 (점묘법)하나하나를 자연 안에서 만났다는 생각이 들어 아카시아를 그리게 되었습니다.

지극히 개인인 나라는 한 사람이 느낀 감정 등을 표현하였지만 관람객이 작품을 보고 작품을 만든 작가를 조금이나마 느낄 수 있지 않을까 하는 기대를 가지며 그림을 그렸다.

이렇게 오롯이 나의 만족감에 맞추어 그려진 그림은 관람객이 관람하는 순간에 비로소 진짜 작품의 의미가 생긴다고 생각합니다.

그래서 나는 나의 그림이 전시장에서 또 다른 어떤 공간에서든 관람객의 발과 시선을 멈출 수 있게 하는 작품이 되어 그 관람자와 그림을 그린 내가 그림을 통해 커뮤니케이션이 이루어 졌으면 합니다.

I work with nature and landscapes as the central themes of my practice.

Nature is a subject that offers endless inspiration—it is ever-changing, always new, and filled with things to observe and feel.

What I value most in my creative process is preserving the emotional impulse I feel at the moment I first encounter a place in nature—the urge to paint it—and sustaining that feeling until the work is complete.

The visual richness and organic harmony found in nature deeply move me. The contrast between viewing a forest from within and from outside, and how trees reflect light differently depending on the conditions, often spark a profound emotional resonance and an urge to recreate that sensation on canvas.

While I do take reference photos to document the scene, they primarily serve as triggers to recall the emotion I felt in that moment.

My works are not intended to replicate nature as it is, like a photograph, but to express a deeply personal and emotional interpretation of it—how I see and feel nature from within.

My paintings can be broadly categorized into three series: Forest Impressions, Nature Impressions, and Acacia.

Forest Impressions capture the experience of facing and observing the forest from a distance, while Nature Impressions portray the feeling of being immersed within nature itself.

The Acacia series focuses on the flat, patterned impression of acacia leaves, representing a more zoomed-in perspective compared to my earlier works.

When painting these leaves, using pointillist brushstrokes, I felt as though I was meeting each moment of nature one by one—which naturally led me to paint acacia.

Although my works reflect emotions experienced by me alone, I paint with the hope that viewers may feel a connection to the person behind the work, even if only slightly.

To me, a painting gains its true meaning only when it is seen by someone—when my personal satisfaction in the creation process meets the viewer’s experience in that moment.

Ultimately, I hope that my paintings, whether in a gallery or any other space, become works that make people pause and look—that create a moment of communication between the viewer and myself through the canvas.
